Motorsports artist Simon Ward was born in 1964 in Newark, a small
town in England. As a boy he would go off to watch races, attending
his first grand prix at Brands Hatch in 1972 and won by Emerson Fittipaldi
in a Lotus 72. Integrating his passions for art and motorsport seemed only
natural as his artistic career began to flourish. Simon’s work has
been honored with exhibitions in Britain and the United States and his
work is on permanent exhibition at the Sebring Regional Airport in Florida,
home of the Sebring 12-hour endurance classic. Simon is closely associated
with the Sebring circuit and has created the cover art for past official
race programs. His paintings are to be found in private collections
throughout the world, many now belonging to champion drivers, teams and
corporate sponsors. Freck’s Auto Art, Inc. of Florida is now
publishing limited edition driver-autographed prints taken from specially
commissioned original paintings by Simon and depicting historic racing
scenes featuring champions such as Fittipaldi, Ronnie Peterson, Gilles
Villeneuve, Carroll Shelby and Jean Alesi.
